Toronto District Christian High School

Toronto District Christian High School has a very active Audio Visual and Theatre program. Their productions are mounted in the “Cafetorium” which also serves as the theatre classroom, meeting and presentation room and has a visiting church group on Sundays. Their recent production of You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown was very successful, but it brought to light a number of problems with faulty equipment and wiring. It also became very apparent that their rolling mixer cart positioned on the floor was compounding the problem.

The entire Audio and Video systems were relocated to a permanent technical gallery position. A completely new set of Multi cabling and Speaker wiring was installed. A Rane MLM103 mixer became the central control along with a Rane ME30B equalizer.

A Soundcraft Compact 10 mixer provides audio control for 2 DVDs, a VHS and computer audio. The new components were interfaced to their existing 24 channel mixer, wireless mics, amplifiers and speakers with a new cabling set.

A Radio Design labs RU-VSX Video switcher routes 3 DVD players and the VHS to the projector.

On a daily basis there is simple control of 2 wireless handhelds, 4 wired mics and the CD/DVD player. The press of one button provides video.

For more elaborate productions when there is a more critical listening requirement with operating technicians, the 24 channel console can be relocated back to the floor position, and all systems are go. The equipment and installation came in under their $7,000 budget before taxes.
